take shelter（初級）

“Hundreds of attendees, many of them reporters and lawmakers, took shelter beneath their tables amidst the chaos.”

数百人の参加者、その多くは記者や議員たちが、混乱の中でテーブルの下に身を隠した。

意味

避難する、身を隠す、という意味です。嵐・危険・攻撃などから安全な場所に逃げ込む場面で使います。take cover とも似ていますが、shelter はより「保護された場所に入る」というニュアンスが強いです。

make the rounds（中級）

意味

あちこちを回る・巡回する、という意味です。情報を集めるため・人に挨拶するため・確認のためなど、複数の場所や人を順番に訪ねるイメージです。ニュースや日常会話でよく登場します。

glean（上級）

“Made the rounds to glean and share details.”

あちこち回って情報を少しずつ集め、共有した。

意味

情報や知識を少しずつ集める、拾い集める、という意味です。もともとは収穫後の畑に残った穂を拾い集める農業用語が語源で、転じて「断片的な情報をかき集める」というニュアンスで使われます。gather より丁寧・文語的な印象があります。
