strive to（初級）

“Athletes have been striving to break through that barrier for years.”

アスリートたちは何年もの間、その壁を突き破ろうと努力してきた。

意味

〜しようと懸命に努力する、奮闘する、という意味です。try より強い意志と継続的な努力のニュアンスがあります。目標に向かって粘り強く取り組む場面に使えます。

by no means（中級）

意味

決して〜ない、という意味の強調表現です。not at all よりやや格式的で、否定を強く打ち出したいときに使います。文頭に置くと語順が倒置になる点も特徴です。

unfathomable（上級）

意味
